Love this casual local Portuguese cafe for breakfast, easy lunches, and pastries. Top go-to's are their breakfast sandwiches and pastries like cheesy bread or empanadas. Their coffee is also good, and I always get a galao (latte) when I stop by. Personally, the pastel de nata (Portuguese egg tart) is just a tad bit too sweet for me, but it still hits the spot if I'm craving. Looking forward to trying more of their lunch options!

If you haven't had Portuguese/Brasilian food before, this is your invitation to start (you won't regret it). I stopped in to Brunella's for a coffee date on a Saturday morning, pining for strong coffee and fried treats. The coffee was great and the snacks did not disappoint. The pastel de nata (sometimes called portuguese tarts) was top notch. Super rich and creamy without a hint of scrambled eggy taste/texture. The pastry crust was excellent - a beautiful swirl with lots of flaky layers and not a soggy bottom in sight. I took a "gimme one of each" approach to the snacks I took home for later. A beef empanada, pao de quiejo (pown-jee-kay-zho), coxinha, and spinach tartlet were awesome. You really cannot go wrong with anything you pick. They have lots of American deli classics as well, but if you leave without at least a pao de quiejo, you're making a mistake!

I love these small hole in the wall places that have a strong emphasis on quality. Came here for breakfast on a late Saturday morning and enjoyed everything we tried. Ordered a galao, cappuccino, cheese bread, beef empanada, Taylor ham, egg and cheese sandwich and custard cups. The coffees were good and came in nice glass cups. The cheese bread was airy and filled with a mozzarella like stretchy cheese while the outside had a nice crisp. The beef empanada had a thin and crispy crust and was generously filled with juicy and flavorful ground beef. The Taylor ham, egg and cheese sandwich was everything you expect in a good breakfast sandwich but the thing that stood out the most was the Portuguese roll. The roll was substantial while also being light and crusty. The custard cups had layers of buttery crispy and flakey crust that you expect from Portuguese egg tarts. The custard itself was a little sweeter and looser than other ones we've had but still very good. I definitely want to come back and try the other Portuguese items on the menu.

I have been meaning to visit since I heard of Brunella last year, despite living down the road from it for years. I thought it was great - small, unassuming but some great pastries, breads, and sandwich options. There is both a breakfast and lunch menu; there's several tables indoors for enjoying your food. The inside is super nostalgic of the delis I went to growing up. We got our food to go; got two cheese breads (I believe it was pão de queijo), the Nutella stuffed donut, and a Philly cheesesteak. On a Thursday morning around 10 they were already out of some stuff - come early if you can! The cheese bread was great and heated up for us; the donut was SUPER decadent - my brother couldn't finish it. They did not skimp on Nutella! The cheesesteak was dece, the bread stole the show - I wonder if they bake it in house? Prices are super reasonable for a NJ deli. All in all, this is a great small spot to get some Portuguese and non-Portuguese fare. Reminiscent of the delis of my youth and tasty to boot!

Brunella's Deli is going to be one of my new fave go to spots for sure! Today I was able to stop by and grab a delicious breakfast for my family. I got beef empanadas, bacon egg and cheese sandwiches, a tosta mista and a regional sandwich. I also picked up a bag of fresh Portuguese rolls! The bacon egg and cheese was just a delicious classic. The empanadas were stunning. Crispy and flaky on the outside. The meat was well seasoned and juicy. Not oily or anything. Just perfect on the inside. The Tosta Mista was a toasted ham and cheese sandwich on a roll. Amazing! The best one yet was their regional sandwich. Decadent and juicy chorizo slices with two eggs and mozzarella cheese. Guys, this was absolutely mouth watering. Please try this when you go! Overall, great experience, with great prices. Will go back to try their lunch soon!

I heard about Brunella on the Westfield moms Facebook group -- and I was shocked that there was a Portuguese cafe in town!!! I am 100% Portuguese so I can be a harsh critic because I am used to my avó (grandma) making me this same food at home with so much love, but this morning I ordered breakfast through DoorDash and Everything exceeded my expectations! I got egg and cheese on a Portuguese roll (it was so fresh and soft) I could just tell it was made with love. I also got a pastel de nata (custard cup) & a bola de Berlim (Portuguese donut) -- they were both sooooo good. In Portugal, they sell the Portuguese donuts on the beach , and it was incredibly nostalgic to have one in the US that's actually fresh and delicious... very hard to find in New Jersey. I pray that you will consider supporting this business so that they can continue to flourish despite the pandemic. People that make food with love deserve to theice
